From Game Ideas to Virtual Worlds: Testing i-Game VR Tools at MängudeÖÖ

On 17 October 2026, the Estonian National Museum (ENM), in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), organised a hands-on workshop as part of MängudeÖÖ in Tallinn. Participants explored how game ideas could be transformed into three-dimensional virtual environments using i-Game tools.
The workshop, “From Idea to VR Game World in Three Hours,” took place at the Estonian Academy of Arts and brought together participants with different levels of experience in gaming, game development and 3D design. The aim was to test the capabilities of the i-Game World Builder and Portal Hopper VR viewer and explore how these tools could support the creation and visualisation of game worlds without requiring programming skills.

The workshop built on the ENM Game Jam held in January 2026. The story of one of the games developed during the Game Jam served as a starting point and inspiration for creating virtual environments.

During the three-hour workshop, participants used prepared 3D models and images to create simple virtual scenes, position and adjust objects, and add visual elements. They

also provided feedback on object positioning and manipulation, navigation, 3D asset management and the user interface.
